Camp offers retreats to churches, youth groups, and ministries year round in a lodge, cabins, and motels and hosts 5 weeks of Summer Camp in July and August. The Camp is located on Grounds composed of 395 acres with spacious lawns and mountain forest outside the village of Westbrookville in the Town of Deerpark in the Shawangunk Mountains in Orange County NY. Camp is a&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">Camp Deerpark<\/a> for campfires and heating via the Wood Doctor Outdoor Wood Boiler (OWB).  It is sources from Standing Deadwood and TSI Trees (Timber Stand Improvement) found and flagged by Maintenance or <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/forestry-stewardship\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Forestry Stewardship is a program under Camp Deerpark's Stewardship Initiative tasked with managing the approximately 360 acres of forest owned by the Camp. Like all Stewardship programming, Forestry stewardship sees humans as part of creation that have a unique God-ordained role in managing living things and resources according to his way and will. The current program was founded in 1997 by members of the North Bronx Mennonite Owner Church and friends who began to advise Camp on sustainable practices informed by work on community forest management by Dr. Chuck Peters (see this history). Projects 10% Inventory -- from 1998-2000 approximately&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">Forestry Stewardship<\/a> Team personnel.  Typically, the wood for heating is cut, hauled in, split and stacked by youth &amp; adult Volunteer Groups in the Fall and Winter and stored in the Wood Doctor cover connected to The Sugar Shack.  Campfire wood may be made from construction sources or brought in by Volunteers or Maintenance personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information and Specifications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Storage for Heat Wood:<\/strong> the Wood Doctor cover on The Sugar Shack &mdash; main area 11.5&prime; x 32&prime; x 8&prime; (3585 c.f.); alcove 20&prime; x 4&prime; x 8&prime; (640 c.f.) = <strong>28 cords<\/strong> (1 cord = 8&prime; x 4&prime; x 4&prime; \/ 128 c.f. \/ ~1200 pcs).  Additional or seasoning wood can be stored in piles in the yard areas around the cover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Storage for Campfire Wood: <\/strong>The Wood Shed or outside areas near harvest zones.  Check the Drop Barrels in the Woodshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Usage:<\/strong> Camp uses approx 42 cords of wood for heating per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Species:<\/strong> heating wood should be mostly hardwood species, though some softwood is acceptable mixed in.
