{"id":4158,"date":"2024-10-28T19:31:53","date_gmt":"2024-10-29T00:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/?post_type=encyclopedia&#038;p=4158"},"modified":"2024-10-28T20:32:28","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T01:32:28","slug":"summer-camp-transportation-policy","status":"publish","type":"encyclopedia","link":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/summer-camp-transportation-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Camp Transportation Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transportation related accidents are the leading cause of death among young people in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Transportation of Campers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children and staff will be transported in one of the two methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a hired bus from a reputable company that is authorized by New York State Department of Transportation, and fully insured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the van of Ken Bontrager<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the camp bus which inspected annually by NYS Department of Transportation contains a first-aid kit, tools, fire extinguisher, flares and maintained regularly by the camp staff under the supervision of the Maintenance Director.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any time children are being transported in any vehicle they will be accompanied by at least two staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seat belts shall be used by all passengers in vehicles so equipped. The driver is responsible to make sure all passengers are wearing seat belts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Occupancy of the vehicle shall be limited to its rated capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drivers of all vehicles shall be 18 years or older and properly licensed to drive that vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All drivers must have copies of their driver&rsquo;s licenses submitted to the office and gain approval from the insurance company prior to driving campers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transportation and Staff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff are permitted to drive their own vehicles to camp.&nbsp;&nbsp; In an effort to preserve the peaceful atmosphere of camp,<strong> staff are not permitted to use their vehicles throughout the week.<\/strong>&nbsp; This includes:&nbsp; starting the engine, playing music through the sound system, or anything else that may be a distraction from the purpose of camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because Camp is legally responsible for staff who are 17 or younger, these <strong>junior staff are never permitted to ride with other staff in personal vehicles.<\/strong>&nbsp; This includes getting a ride home from Camp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":21,"featured_media":0,"template":"","tags":[260],"encyclopedia-category":[89],"class_list":["post-4158","encyclopedia","type-encyclopedia","status-publish","hentry","tag-summer-staff-manual","encyclopedia-category-policy"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/encyclopedia\/4158","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/encyclopedia"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/encyclopedia"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/21"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/encyclopedia\/4158\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4181,"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/encyclopedia\/4158\/revisions\/4181"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4158"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4158"},{"taxonomy":"encyclopedia-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/encyclopedia-category?post=4158"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
