Sphere's of influence mean this principles should be applied to our relationships and areas of responsibility in life. Shared and personal resources means this principles should be applied to thoughts, attention, time, energy, wealth, and property whether held by individuals or community. GLM GLM is an acrostic to help the community remember the three principles of Stewardship: God's, Love, and Most. (Ask about hunting, vehicle and ATV use, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees may make arrangements for the visit of family and friends, including use of guest facilities not simultaneously needed for programming (generally for free).  Ask the Administration and\/or Guest Services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check with the Administration for use of grounds and amenities in the guest area for specific policies (such as Pool Use Policy). This includes cars, tractors, and heavy equipment, but also utility machines (furnaces, washing machines, etc) and working machines and tools (wood planers, nail guns, etc.). Equipment includes vehicles, machines, and tools used in work areas, guest areas, and residences. Although Equipment is present in most Buildings and may play an important roll in Buildings, we categorize it separately. For example, The Admin House is a building at Camp, but the Dishwasher in the Admin House is categorized as Equipment. Generally, any machine that is installed in a building and can be&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">Equipment<\/a> (vehicles, machines, tools, etc.):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Equipment must be operated in a safe and responsible manner avoiding injury to all persons and destruction to property and nature.  Equipment must be maintained in good working order for safe operation and to maximize its service life as good <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/stewardship\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Stewardship is the acknowledgement and practice that everything belongs to God, and as his children in fellowship with Him and following the model of the Son, we are empowered to sustainably use all that is entrusted to us for the good of all He loves. Stewardship is one of Camp's Initiatives: four major area of focus across Program and Projects that are derived from our Mission &amp; Values. Camp applies Stewardship to human resources, financial &amp; material resources, and creation resources, and sees all these areas as intertwined in an integrated whole. Want to get involved? Additionally, it can be used to benefit of employees so long as: (1) it doesn&rsquo;t interfere with the primary purpose through unavailability, breakage, or interruption, (2) Camp is fairly compensated for costs associated with this use, (3) the operator agrees to Facilities terms for proper care and maintenance of the Equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of all Equipment requires valid licensing when required by law (for example a drivers license is required to operate cars), and training and permission of Supervisory staff whether for employment or personal use.  ALWAYS ask first.  Age restrictions apply for minors on some types of equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rental or fees-for-use may apply in cases where equipment is not used for employment or volunteer activities benefiting Camp.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal use of vehicles outside of Camp are decided on a case-by-case basis and require per-mileage compensation unless otherwise authorized by a Department head or the Administration.  Employment use of a vehicle requires permission from a Supervisor and coordination with the Facilities Director who is responsible for the CDP fleet is mandatory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ATVs, Tractors, and motorized equipment are NOT available for recreational use: ONLY work and volunteer activities!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motorized vehicles and equipment &mdash; even privately owned &mdash; are prohibited for recreational use on woods roads and trails.  Bikes (including Class 1 e-Bikes) and human powered vehicles are allowed on woods roads and mutli-use trails.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Breakage and wear-and-tear of any Equipment should immediately be reported to Facilities along with any injury or damage to property resulting from its operation.  We&rsquo;ll do our best not to embarrass or berate the responsible party, but we need to know so the Equipment can be repaired and maintained in safe and working condition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>Questions:<\/strong> Have you ever lived in a rural\/mountain setting before?  Have you been a guest or staff member at camp?  What do you think are the pros and cons?<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&laquo;a ministry&raquo;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The word <em>ministry<\/em> simply means service. Our focus is centered on serving people, especially those who are served by our <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/owner-churches\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Owner Churches are churches that own Camp through their participation in the NYC Council of Mennonite Churches (NYCCMC). As a ministry of these Owner Churches, Camp seeks to serve and strengthen these churches and extend their ministry space as they accomplish their mission. Owner churches may recommend church members as candidates to the Camp Board of Directors, subject to a approval process detailed in the By-laws. In the past, Camp has sought to maintain a majority of board seats held by members of Owner Churches. Owner Churches typically qualify for a discount on all services, events, and programs related to&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">Owner Churches<\/a>.  Ministry also means serving people as <em>service to<\/em> God (Mt 25:31-46; Col 3:17) and serving people <em>with<\/em> God (Jn 5:19, 15:5; Phil 2:13).  The first consideration of ministry is how to bring God&rsquo;s grace into other people&rsquo;s lives, not how to advance our own interests, compete against others for our advancement, make a profit, or maintain ourselves without cost or risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>READ: <\/strong>Camp Deerpark <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/core-values\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Adopted By Board of Directors September 28, 2013 1. To every person that comes on to the camp grounds including summer camp children, weekend retreat guests, individuals on personal retreat, and the garbage truck driver. b. By fostering Christian community: We want to be an organization that takes the lead in resolving conflicts, opening communication, and strengthening relationships. 2. What&rsquo;s your plan to grow and maintain an attitude of service for and with Jesus?<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&laquo;New York City Mennonite Churches&raquo;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New York City:<\/strong> Camp represents the ministry of a particular people in a particular place as a unique <em>here-and-now<\/em> revelation of God (Acts 17:26-27).  We are blessed to be in the context of New York City and see our task as contextualizing the Gospel of Jesus as a seed planted in the this particular soil of people and culture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mennonite:<\/strong> can refer to both a cultural\/ethnic identity and a theological movement within the &laquo;Radical Reformation&raquo; or &laquo;Anabaptist Movement&raquo;. While Camp <strong>celebrates<\/strong> that cultural identity &mdash; along with all culturally identities &mdash; as it is represented in the diversity of our people, we <strong>emphasize<\/strong> the theological movement in our values and programming. What do you identify with from the Mennonite theological movement and what might be different for you?<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&laquo;a community of Christ&raquo;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Camp is a <strong>community<\/strong> that is a work-in-progress where people relate lovingly to each other while serving an identity and purpose greater than the individual members.  This differs from a <em>public<\/em>, which is a group of people who serve the purpose and interests of the individual members.  This means we sacrifice for the good of all and receive the benefit of care from all &mdash; and, even more &mdash; to advance the Kingdom, which is the greatest good for all. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a community of <strong>Christ<\/strong>, we are disciple&rsquo;s of Jesus called to join, as a matter of first allegiance (Mt 10:38, 16:24; Lk 14:26-33), his mission and movement (Mt 18:18-20) as the best way to be human and love others (Jn 13:34-35).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Camp, in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/nyc-lmc-district\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"NYC LMC District is a regional oversight district of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference (LMC) served by assigned bishops that exists for the fellowship, accountability, and resourcing of spiritual leaders and their communities. It includes fourteen congregations in Bronx, Brooklyn, Flushing, Manhattan, New York, Queens, and Ridgewood NY; one congregation in New Haven, Connecticut; and twenty-five congregations in the Dominican Republic. Other leaders who are relationally connected are often invited to participate. The churches of the NYC LMC District who participate in the NYC Mennonite Council are Owner Churches of Camp. (Our Work)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&laquo;<strong>where children, youth, and families&raquo;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Who do we serve?<\/strong> A basic outline of the groups we serve and the associated programs:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Children<\/em>. <strong>Programs:<\/strong> Children&rsquo;s Summer Camp<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Youth and Young Adults.<\/em> <strong>Programs: <\/strong>Teen Discipleship (Summer Camp), Teen Camp, Peace Camp, Young Adult Staff Discipleship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Families.<\/em> <strong>Programs:<\/strong> Family Camp, Family <a href=\"https:\/\/campdeerpark.org\/es\/kb\/retreats\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Since camp was first purchased, weekend retreats have been a constant source of enjoyment for congregations from New York City. The first retreat at camp was held in May of 1969. Camp hosted the youth groups from the city churches, with about 70 youth attending. Glad Tidings Mennonite Church held the first church retreat in July 1969. Retreats allow congregations to slow down from the busyness of their normal New York City schedule and take the time to deepen their relationships. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s different than when you see people each week. You can slowdown and go deeper,&rdquo; was a comment from&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">Retreats<\/a>, Reunions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Churches.<\/em> (full of children, youth, and families) There are two categories of churches we serve and serve with: Owner Churches and User Churches. <strong>Programs: <\/strong>Church Retreats, Leadership Development Programs (Pastors Retreat, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Summer Camp slogan &mdash; <em>Empowering Youth the Serve Christ in the City<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&laquo;<strong>all cultures are welcomed<\/strong>&laquo;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Five Domains: Where does culture fit in?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural Diversity<\/strong> &ndash; Camp enjoys all the cultures of the New York City metro region and also the cultures of the &laquo;Pennsylvania Dutch&raquo; through our connection to the Mennonites in central Pennsylvania.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Language:<\/em> Camp&rsquo;s owning churches speak English, Spanish, and Garifuna in their services, but our users churches also speak Chinese, Korean, Hindi and others.
