Wood Doctor Chimney Rod Broken

The Wood Doctor OWB seems to have a broken internal part that does not let the Chimney Rood / Baffel Rod to be re-inserted after it is pulled. Instructions say to pull this every feeding to prevent ash build-up. I pulled, but couldn’t push it back in. A peek inside the firebox showed the damper plate seems to be dangling and catching so it can’t slide back. Left the rod out meaning too much smoke will escape and heat will be lost. After weekend, a cool stove will be required for repair.

The hole the rod pulls through is either worn or a stop on the rod came off. I put a pipe clamp around it. If it does get pull back to far and will not go back in. Pull all way back and turn counter clockwise and pull down on handle then push it back in.
