Last night at about midnight, the guest group (Valley of Jesus) reported a smell of gas in the kitchen and dining area of Spruce Lodge. I responded but couldn’t smell any gas myself. A guest had entered the kitchen and was concerned about the pilot lights on the cook surfaces — these were all lit and could not be leaking while lit. Unable to establish a smell and leak, I turned on the exhaust fan over the cooking area and added a window fan in the main area. I also did a safety check in the basement, although there is no gas or LP service in the basement.
I checked under the mats at the drink station because they sometimes trap liquid and grow anaerobic bacteria resulting in a sewer, fart, or gas smell. The right mat had liquid under it which I cleaned up. Took the mat outside, clean and rinsed, and set out to dry.
