Imperial Moth Caterpillar
Imperial Moth Caterpillar (Eacles imperialis) is a green caterpillar of the Giant Silkworms family with a row of bright white and bright yellow spots on its sides, yellow markings on its hind feet and clasper, faint white bristles, and yellow horns and forelegs. There is also a dark form that is dark brown to black with black horns which are sometimes long and barbed. They can grow to be quite large (2.5-5”), especially in late Summer and early Fall. They eat a variety of leaves including Pines and Oaks. The adult moth is yellow and brown.
