Camp is an amazing place for fellowship and ministry. But it only stays that way due to tireless and creative work of our dedicated Maintenance Staff. We’re looking for a Team Member who will take on the care of our buildings, equipment, and grounds as a ministry to the youth, families, and churches of New York City. Facilities Director

Job Description

The Facilities Director is responsible to maintain the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Camp Deerpark in good condition in service of our mission: to create a community of Christ where children, youth, and families from all cultures are welcomed to fellowship together in the serenity of God’s creation. While practical and hands-on, this role supports cross-cultural ministry (both in terms of ethnic culture and rural/urban culture). This is done in a way that creates opportunities for hands-on leadership, life-skills, and ministry experience for urban youth. Centered on stewardship, the Facilities Director leads innovation and creativity to create affordable and welcoming retreat facilities that demonstrate Kingdom and Gospel principles of sacrifice, sustainability, and care.

This is a year round, full-time position that reports to the Director of Operations under the oversight of the Executive Director. The Facilities Director works closely with all departments to plan and implement effective strategies and procedures for the use of buildings, grounds, and equipment including the trouble-shooting and resolution of problems as they arise. The position also includes management and supervision of a maintenance assistant, summer staff, volunteers, and housekeeping staff.

  • Availability: open immediately
  • Compensation: $58,500 | On-site Housing Included (approximately $88,500 total compensation)
  • Facilities: Dining Hall, 2 Meeting Buildings, 10 Guest Lodgings (140 beds), 5 Staff Houses, Maintenance Facility, Swimming Pool, 26 acres Lawns, 370+ acres Forest and Meadows.
  • Benefits: Paid holidays (7), sick leave, 2 weeks vacation. Retirement contribution, paid sabbatical, and increased vacation time based on years of service.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

General maintenance work, small repairs, small and large building projects, vehicle maintenance, grounds maintenance, snow removal, trouble-shooting, other areas where needed. It is important that the facilities director at Camp Deerpark be a highly organized, self-motivated person with an eye for detail. The facilities director is responsible for the overall appearance of camp and plays a pivotal role in camper and guest safety and comfort.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Clean background check
  • Clean drivers license. CDL is a plus
  • US Citizen or working permit
  • English proficiency required. Spanish or other language a plus
  • Facilities maintenance, construction, or mechanical experience required. Specific skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical is a plus. On-the-job training in some technical skills provided.
  • Basic computer skills required (word processing, spreadsheets, email, file systems).
  • Demonstrated good organizational skills required.
  • Discipleship and teaching skills a plus.
